Valentia for cello and piano was composed by Ailbhe McDonagh in 2022 as a commission for her nationwide tour with pianist John O'Conor, to whom the work is dedicated. This was premiered at Glór Theatre, Ennis, Co. Clare in October 2022 by Ailbhe and John. It is a dramatic concert piece that vividly depicts the ferocity and grandeur of the Atlantic ocean surrounding the Valentia Island off the south west coast of Ireland.
